Analysis on my own poems

Well, as u know me.....well ya dont really know me..im a really bad decision maker.i can never choose between one thing or the other.im also a one not to pick favirites.sooooo...i will just tell u what i like and dislike about each of the poem i wrote.

Spiders

I like Spiders because it has some relevance to my life. I know im scared silly by spiders so this poem really expresed how i felt about them.

Tiny Sprout

This was the first poem i attemptedd to write. It kind of just *snap* came to me. I didn't have to ponder over it for hours, like i had to do with the sonnet.

Hungry

I wouldn't really say this poem is literary ART....I was so hungry when i wrote that poem, I couldnt think of anything else.

Lemonade

I was thinking of an old computer game i used to play called lemonade stand when I wroye this poem. But i really did want lemonade at that point.

Surroundings

I really don't like writing sonnets. Iamibic Pantameter?ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme scheme?14 lines?10 syllables? WHY IS EVERYTHING SO SPECIFIC?Writing this annoyed the (crap) out of me. I like making my poems humorous or aggressive. It's almost impossible( really impossible) to write with those 2 features. This poem definitely took me the longest to write, and it's still my weakest one. I wasted a perfectly good Tuesday afternoon and evening and night to write a STUPID SONNET. case closed. i think you get me now. I didn't get how people wrote all those sappy sonnets about stuff i couldn't care less about.I guess it's just the way i like to write.

Snow

This was any other ORDINARY poem that I might as well have written in my sleep. I was glad it didn't have to rhyme. :)

Keep A-Goin'

Author: by Frank L. Stanton (1857-1927)
If you strike a thorn or rose,
Keep a-goin'!
If it hails or if it snows,
Keep a-goin'!
'Taint no use to sit an' whine
When the fish ain't on your line;
Bait your hook an' keep a-tryin'--
Keep a-goin'!

When the weather kills your crop,
Keep a-goin'!
Though 'tis work to reach the top,
Keep a-goin'!
S'pose you're out o' ev'ry dime,
Gittin' broke ain't any crime;
Tell the world you're feelin' prime--
Keep a-goin'!

When it looks like all is up,
Keep a-goin'!
Drain the sweetness from the cup,
Keep a-goin'!
See the wild birds on the wing,
Hear the bells that sweetly ring,
When you feel like singin', sing--
Keep a-goin'!

This is yet another inspirational poem. I really like these kinds of poems because it really gives me something to think about. This one is by John Stanton. I like it when people write poems about what you're thinking or what your mood is. When i'm hungry and don't feel like getting up to get a snack and I happen to have to write a poem for a poetry project, I just write a poem about how hungry I am. Maybe this person had some bad things going on in his life but knew he had to keep a-goin'.

I like how it repeats Keep a going throughout the poem. Even though it uses slang language a little like s'pose and e'ery, it still shows it's on the countryside somewhere
This is the rhyme scheme:

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

By: Maya Angelou

The free bird leaps
on the back of the win
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hillfor the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

See! what did i tell you about poems being inspiring? That was one, very inspiring poem.  I like stanzas 2 and 3 alot.  I wonder how people write stuff like that. iT'S JUST SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!SOB. This iz one of the best poems i have ever read. Even though i haven't read many poems, it's still saying something.I like Maya angelou because she writes inspiring poems like that.
I think this is a free verse poem because it doesn't fall into any other poem categories and doesn't follow a particular rhyme scheme. Some words rhyme and some words don't. This poem does use some good figurative land which is another factor to a good poem.
sighing trees- personification
dares to claim the sky- metaphor
bars of rage- meataphor
stands on the grave of dreams- meataphor
shadows shout- personification or metaphor
This poem compares a free bird to a caged bird then explains why the caged bird sings.

This is what i think.....

HI EVERYBODY!IM SOOO HAPPY 2 DO THIS AND IM ALREADY HAVING SO MUCH FUN! I HOPE I HAVE AN AWESOME TIME WITH THIS BLOG AND I'LL ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I CAN!!!!!!!IT'S NOT LIKE I HAVE AN OUTIDE LIFE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. PSHT. UR HILARIOUS! IM ALWAYS LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WHEN I GET HOME.

ya.....NO!
I'm being forced to do this against my will. But i still have 2 do it....... so sha. so my name is "that girl who lives in a box on the side of highway 9", of course that's not my real name but if i put my real name on here some creepy stalker will read it and track me down. it's always good to be safe :)

So apperently, i have to write what type of reading i like to do. well, that's so thoughtful of you to ask me! i just happened to be thinking of my favorite readings.....

I am actually an avid reader. I used to be obsessed( i mean OBSESSED) with books in the fourth and fifth grade.. and third.....and second.. so pretty much almost all of elementary school. i don't know what happened in the summer between 5th and sixth grade, but now im dramatically less obsessed with books now. But i am still obsessed.

i like fantasy and adventure books alot. I'm not sure why i like them so much, i just do. I like the Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and the Twilight series. Realistic fiction is okay, but my favorite realistic fiction book is Every soul a Star.

I also like poems because some are really inspiring.  A couple of years ago, if someone asked me what poetry was, i would say lines that rhyme with each other. But now i know that not all poetry has to rhyme, so that makes defining poetry harder. According to the Google dictionary:
po·et·ry
noun /ˈpōətrē/  /ˈpōitrē/
poetries, plural
  1. Literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature
    • - he is chiefly famous for his love poetry
  2. A quality of beauty and intensity of emotion regarded as characteristic of poems
    • - poetry and fire are nicely balanced in the music
  3. Something regarded as comparable to poetry in its beauty
    • - the music department is housed in a building that is pure poetry
So, I did not understand many of the words in that definition, so i will just say poetry is writing expressed in special ways, like rhyming, pictures, and syllables.

But, nonfiction books or texts with really big words are annoying. Some hard words are okay, so show that the author is not at a first grade level, but too many make the text hard to read and it kind of gets pointless. I like nonfiction books with authors that have some creativity instead of just listing out facts.

Some authors i like are J.K Rowling, Erin Hunter, Stephanie Meyer, Wendy Mass, and Rick Riordan.
